HONDA FG110 PETROL TILLER

Designed to satisfy the needs of those with a small to medium sized garden the Honda FG110 tiller weighs only 14kg / 31lbs making it easy to carry. The engine guard doubles up as a handle. This tiller won't break up solid ground but it makes a very good job of turning over softer soils and even clay.

The depth bar is adjustable which is useful if you only want to till the surface and break up weeds without damaging surrounding plants. Even more useful are the removable outer tines which then gives the machine a narrow tilling width of only 15cm / 6in wide, great for plant beds. One downside is that the handles are not adjustable for height. The 25cc four stroke Honda engine has been around for many years giving good performance and reliability.

Honda FG110 petrol tiller

THE GOOD POINTS:

  • At only 14kg / 31lbs this is a lightweight tiller which can easily be lifted by most people.

  • The folding handles and the lift handle make storing and moving this tiller very easy

  • The warranty is a very long five years. BUT see points to consider below regarding servicing

  • Assembly is ridiculously simple, a five minute job at the most

  • The outer tines can be easily removed making it much easier to use the machine in confined spaces such as flower beds

  • The adjustable depth bar allows for deep or shallow tilling.

POINTS TO CONSIDER:

  • The handlebars are a bit too close together for our liking on a petrol driven tiller. This makes manoeuvring the machine slightly more difficult than you might expect and is slightly tiring

  • If you want to take advantage of the long warranty period you are required to have your tiller serviced annually by a Honda approved agent which does not come cheap! Think, will you really get your machine serviced at a cost of around £90 every year?

  • Will not till compacted soil

WHO ARE HONDA?

Honda are a Japanese company who have been trading for well over 50 years. They are probably most famous for their cars but they have also built up an enviable reputation for garden equipment. They focus on producing rugged and reliable machinery which is fit for purpose. It's a myth that many hire companies use Honda garden equipment although some of the models they hire out have Honda engines.

WHERE TO BUY A HONDA FG110 TILLER

The recommended retail price is £469 but there are many discounts on that price. Honda carefully restrict sales to only approved dealers but even so we found it being sold at a discounted price with (free delivery to UK mainland) - click here.

Our buying advice is simple, search online for the best deal you can find from a Honda main dealer and take that. All Honda main dealers are fully researched by Honda before being allowed to sell their goods. If you buy for a non-approved dealer then expect trouble.
