HARVEST GARLIC
Garlic is coming to the end of its harvest period in a few weeks time so make sure that you prepare lots of bulbs for long term storage. The warm weather in August is ideal for drying out garlic for storage so make full use of it. Read our detailed article on how best to store garlic.

HARVEST FRENCH BEANS

HARVEST ONIONS
Now is the time to start looking at you onion crop and deciding when to harvest and store it. There is no exact answer to when to harvest because the UK has many different climates and each year has different weather. the basic rule is to wait until the stems have fallen over for a couple of days and the foliage is starting to yellow at the edges. Our major article on harvesting and storing onions gives lots of guidance, hints and tips.

FEED POTATOES IN CONTAINERS
We recommend feeding potatoes in containers every other week with a liquid tomato feed. Click here for more details in our main article.

THIN LETTUCE SEEDLINGS
Thin lettuce seedlings to about 10cm / 4in apart initially. Later in the year when they start to touch each other harvest the small ones and eat them, these are the most delicious of all lettuces. See our full article on the care of lettuces here.
